Each class will be designed to get to know each other and to navigate the transition to BU and Boston. Each section is college-specific; there are sections for students in the <strong>College of Arts &amp; Sciences<\/strong>, specialty sections for Math + CS majors, Natural Science majors, Social Science majors, and Undeclared students, students in the <strong>College of Communication<\/strong>, the <strong>Pardee School of Global Studies<\/strong>, the <strong>Questrom School of Business<\/strong>, and the <strong>Wheelock College of Education and Human Development<\/strong>. There are also four sections of the course reserved for <strong>first-generation college students\u00a0from all colleges<\/strong> (those who are the first in their family to go to a four-year college in the US), and five sections for <strong>transfer students from all colleges<\/strong> (our transfer sections count for one Hub requirement in Individual in the Community).<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\"> <strong>Why should I take this class? <\/strong><\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p><b>Benefits of FY101<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As soon as the first week of classes, you will become integrated into a <\/span><b>welcoming and engaging community<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that will start with your instructor, peer mentor, and fellow classmates.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will have the opportunity to make <\/span><b>connections with peers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> thanks to the small class sizes (no more than 17 students per class).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will get to know the people and <\/span><b>resources at BU that will help you succeed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> personally, academically, and socially.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will be given time to <\/span><b>reflect on your transition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to college\u00a0and grow as a scholar and individual.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will get exclusive opportunities to <\/span><b>explore Boston<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on evenings and weekends with other FY101 students and peer mentors.
