(either go to an eating establishment or choose a local park and bring food for them)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pay with your BU Travel Card or Personal Card and <a href=\"\/cas\/files\/2023\/09\/Concur-Reimbursements-2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">get reimbursed<\/a>. To make sure your reimbursement comes via Direct Deposit (versus a paper check), <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/travelservices\/files\/2016\/04\/How-to-Sign-up-for-Direct-Deposit-for-Expense-Reimbursements.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">these directions<\/a> (if neither of these are an option for you, let Simon know. Peer Mentors should not use their own money for these)<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">50 minutes is not a long time to get somewhere, eat and get back to campus, so have your class meet on the street outside your classroom building to save time. Pre-order food so you don&#8217;t have to wait in line or wait for them to make up their minds.\u00a0 Remember that groups of first year students walk SLOWLY.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Send Alyssa a picture of your group on their outing! aldoust@bu.edu<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p><b>Some ideas to get you started\u2026<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Any starting point:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Food on the Esplanade or on BU Beach<\/strong>: Pre-order food (instructor picks it up and Peer Mentor walks the class to the meeting point?) and enjoy it as a picnic on the BU Beach or the Charles River Esplanade (the grassy area along the Charles River). You can cross over Storrow Dr to the Esplanade at a few key locations along BU&#8217;s campus (Silber Way overpass or the overpass by the BU Beach). Protip: Bring a couple picnic blankets or plastic table cloths to sit on bc these are prime geese poop areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">East Campus Classroom Starting Point:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Blackbird Doughnuts:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Great option for a morning class as they are open from 7am-4pm Mon- Fri (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/BgRTTeb2bhaN54uK9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.5 miles from 100 Bay State Road<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) at Fenway. Pre-order on-line or have your students select their items when you arrive. Your allotment should be enough for at least a donut and a drink for everyone.\u00a0 Blackbird has vegan options but not gluten free. Fenway location info <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackbirddoughnuts.com\/locations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can sit on the lawn in front of Time Out Market after you get your treats or walk around Fenway together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Time Out Market:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Walk from 100 Bay State Rd to the many optioned <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeoutmarket.com\/boston\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Time Out Market<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/uCjtDYdKYV88WLZaA\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.6 miles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). E-mail Time Out Market (<a href=\"mailto:alvaro.marmolejo@timeout.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alvaro.marmolejo@timeout.com<\/a>) with the number of pre-paid $15 cards you want for you and your class- have your students RSVP first so you don\u2019t have extras ($15 is enough for everyone to get something\u2026and they can always use their own money for more). They need 48 business hours notice and the cards should be available for your pick up at your outing time. They will e-mail you a form to fill out your travel card or personal credit card information. Let them know what day and time you are coming as that is when the cards will be activated for (cards are good\u00a0 for 3 years post activation so if you have extras use to buy everyone a donut or as a prize later on). Everyone can choose what they want to eat inside and then take their food to go to sit inside in the hall or in outdoor tables. When you reconcile the charge, call the charges <strong>&#8220;meal cards&#8221;<\/strong> (NOT &#8220;gift cards&#8221; which are not allowed).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Central Campus Classroom Starting Point<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Futago Udon: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Located in Boston University\u2019s South Campus, Futago Udon is a local restaurant that specializes in an array of authentic udon noodles. Meet outside on the COM Lawn and walk to South Campus as a group (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/VVajhpFP4bpTNdeB9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.4 miles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). View the menu and order ahead of time using <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grubhub.com\/restaurant\/futago-udon-508-512-park-dr-boston\/2057432\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! This restaurant opens at 12:00 PM, and students can walk <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/qXipwkLYUSty5PMb9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5 minutes to Monmouth Park<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to enjoy their meals together!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Giggling Rice Thai Togo: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walk from the College of Arts and Sciences building to Giggling Rice Thai Togo, a delicious local restaurant that\u2019s just steps away from South Campus (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/1zA2HPnFSJvTw7JY6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.4 miles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). This restaurant is open from 11:30 AM &#8211; 3:30 PM on weekdays, and sections can use this <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toasttab.com\/gigglingrice\/v3#!\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">link<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to view the menu and order in advance. After picking up your meals, students can walk <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/guzBgZnRgVy46ovP6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7 minutes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to Time Out Market to spend time as a group!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Shinmio Tea: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meet on Marsh Plaza and walk to Shinmio Tea, a cafe that\u2019s known for the milk tea and pastries (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/reJC7AwZpGm91EQy8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.4 miles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).
