BU Connects<\/h6>\n
BU Connects<\/a> is a new platform exclusively for Boston University alumni, students, faculty, and staff that brings Terriers together for personal and professional networking on a global scale. You can join the Arts & Sciences in Action group<\/a> to find a mentor and share jobs, professional wins, advice, and all-around good news to the Arts & Sciences community. All Arts & Sciences students are welcome, and once you’re in, introduce yourself and your interests to our impressive roster of fellow Terriers!<\/span><\/p>\n Find out more about this exciting platform on the\u00a0BU Alumni website<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Are you not sure what you want to study or pursue? Stop by the\u00a0<\/span>CAS Advising Office<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Student Programs & Leadership Office<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>at 100 Bay State Road to meet with an advisor. You can also check out their\u00a0<\/span>leadership opportunities<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>to grow your confidence and meet like-minded Terriers.<\/p>\n If you’re interested in pursuing a career in healthcare or law,\u00a0the\u00a0pre-health<\/a> and pre-law<\/a> advisors in the Pre-Professional Advising Office can provide you with guidance while exploring these pathways, and help you develop a competitive portfolio as you prepare for the application process.<\/span><\/p>\n Addition\u00adally, the\u00a0<\/span>Center for Career Development<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>can help you find opportunities in your desired field. Their experts can help you overcome your networking and interviewing jitters, answer questions you have about life after graduation, and teach you all about salary negotiations (just to name a few!). Recruiting events happen year-round on campus, and that’s a great place for students to learn about employers and potential jobs.<\/p>\n As a student, you can post your resume to Handshake<\/a> and view open job listings from companies in Boston and all over the country that are exclusive to BU students and alumni. You can also get help<\/a> with your resume and cover letter and sign up for career counseling appointments<\/a>.\u00a0 And check out one of their events<\/a> when you get to campus.<\/p>\n The CAS On-Campus Internship Program<\/a> provides you with critical, real-world work experience through on-campus internships and a one-credit course that focuses on the development of career goals and professional networking skills. Internship opportunities include positions in archival research, information technology, institutional research, and outreach and communication.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re interested in a career in healthcare, education, the arts, conservation, or other social needs, BU supports your pursuits. BU\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Program<\/a>\u00a0provides a living stipend for sophomores and juniors to support educational participation in unpaid internships at nonprofit organizations. Interested students should contact\u00a0<\/span>yawkey@bu.edu<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>for more information.<\/p>\n The\u00a0<\/span>Public Humanities Undergraduate Fellows<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>is a selective program that offers BU humanities majors stipend-supported summer internships. The fellows make up a group of students who will discover and enhance the humanities\u2019 place outside of the University. Opportunities are in different organizations around Boston including technology, social services, digital storytelling, education, economic development, the arts, management training, and international diplomacy.<\/p>\n In fall 2020, the CAS Dean\u2019s Office announced a new call supporting CAS undergraduate research\u00a0internships<\/span>, focusing on the following two thematic areas: 1) social justice and inclusion and 2) sustainability. This endeavor, entitled the\u00a0CAS Social Sciences Undergraduate Internships<\/a>\u00a0in Social Justice and Sustainability, aims to help support and advance faculty research in these areas and to provide undergraduate students interested in honing their research skills with an experiential learning opportunity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Experience the global workplace while also immersing yourself in another culture. Internships are a vital part of your study abroad experience. Connect with the\u00a0<\/span>Study Abroad office<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to see what opportunities are available in your desired area.<\/p>\n Internships can be considered part of your\u00a0<\/span>Directed Study<\/a><\/span>. If you find one that fits your pursuits, reach out to the Directed Study office and your advisor. Additionally, you may find an internship that connects to your research project. The\u00a0<\/span>Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program\u00a0<\/a><\/span>(UROP) can help with that.<\/p>\n Our students and alums are always up to something exciting.
