Associate Professor of Religion and African American Studies\u00a0<\/span>Margarita Guillory\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>spoke to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The Brink<\/em> about her work, which explores how religion functions in the everyday lives of African Americans, particularly through practices tracing back to religious and cultural systems from Africa. She is currently writing a book on African religions and how these traditions have been impacted by technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy goal has always been to challenge monolithic understandings of African American religiosities,\u201d Margarita told the publication. She was recently named a 2020\/2021 Jeffrey Henderson Senior Research Fellow at BU\u2019s Center for the Humanities.
