How can we work together to promote better cultural understanding worldwide?

Qais Akbar Omar (GRS’16), a graduate student in the Creative Writing Program, has published a much-praised memoir, A Fort of Nine Towers: An Afghan Family Story. He recalls how the violence and tumult of civil war jolted his family, who, despite losing relatives, their home, and possessions, continued to nurture his wish to attend a university.

Robert Cohen, intellectual pioneer and former dean of Arts & Sciences, passes away at age 94

June 29th, 2017

On June 19, the BU Arts & Sciences community and the wider world lost a compassionate social activist and intellectual pioneer in the field of the philosophy of science when Robert Cohen passed away at his home in Watertown, MA. “Bob Cohen left a great legacy at this college and in the wider world,” said Dean of Arts & Sciences Ann Cudd. “He brought an amazing energy and spirit of collaboration to the College, and enriched our academic community for decades.”
