A Message from Dean Cudd Undergraduate Education Graduate Education Faculty Facilities Community Global University Make Your Impact Boston University
What will you do? Irene and Thomas Kelley are giving students in the Department of Earth & Environment the tools they need to measure crucial data. David S. Katz is giving students in the CAS Astronomy program the power to quickly analyze and download data. George Bernard enables biology graduate students to travel for research, making the planet their laboratory. CAS board member Steve Karbank is bringing leading environmental philosophers to speak to the BU community. Generous supporters helped renovate our organic chemistry labs, resulting in three state-of-the-art labs in 6,000 square feet of space. Bob Hildreth and Susan Tane are bringing great poets to campus through The Favorite Poem Project. Living fully to 102, poet Ida Fasel (CAS’31, GRS’45) funded a fellowship in Jewish Studies. Benjamin Lambert is bringing chemistry to life with the gift of the department's first endowed colloquim series.

Impactx2: John (Mac) Marston investigates how people dealt with climate change in the past so we’ll be ready for the future. BU Trustee Peter Paul (GSM’71) recognized Marston’s vision and jumped in to fund his data gathering during a critical pilot phase. Together, they are making a real difference.

A message from Dean Cudd

Impactx2 is not just a slogan; it accurately describes what we do here at CAS.

Our faculty contribute to human understanding in nearly every field, and challenge the next generation of leaders to think critically and never stop learning. Our alumni, parents, and supporters give us the resources to make it all happen. That is what we mean by Impactx2: donors partnering with us to do great things.

Boston University is in the midst of a $1 billion fundraising campaign, and Arts & Sciences has pledged to raise $100 million. This is an opportunity for us to do unprecedented things, but we need your help. Whether you consider yourself a graduate of CLA, CAS, or GRS, we need your generosity and vision so we can make our University and our world a better place.
