Boston University’s Graduate School of Arts & Sciences prepares students to take their next steps across a wide range of academic, professional, and research-focused paths. The 2025 Career Outcome Report offers a closer look at where recent GRS master’s graduates are applying their skills after completing their degrees.
This year’s report reflects the strength and breadth of a GRS education, with surveyed graduates pursuing opportunities across industries such as higher education, healthcare, internet and software, research, and more. These outcomes demonstrate how graduate training in the arts and sciences can lead to careers across both traditional academic spaces and fast-growing professional industries.

Among surveyed graduates, 89% were employed or continuing their education, showing strong post-graduation momentum across the GRS community. The report also highlights the global reach of GRS, with graduates coming from a wide range of countries; according to the 2025 data, 75% of international graduates secured roles in the U.S.
Employers listed in the report include Amazon, Boston Children’s Hospital, Capital One, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Boston Medical Center. Graduates also reported roles in software engineering, research, teaching, machine learning, and other specialized fields.

Location data from the report shows Boston continues to serve as a major career hub for GRS graduates, with additional employment outcomes reported in cities across the country, including New York City, Seattle, Austin, and beyond. This reflects both the advantages of studying in a major research and innovation center and the flexibility of a GRS degree across regions and industries.
The 2025 Career Outcome Report offers a snapshot of the many directions GRS graduates pursue after BU. Whether they are entering the workforce, continuing their education, or contributing to research, teaching, technology, healthcare, and public-facing fields, GRS graduates continue to bring their training into spaces where knowledge, critical thinking, and specialized expertise are needed.
