  • College of Communication Twitter Collection and Analysis Toolkit: allows researchers to examine Tweets off the STREAM API (the so-called “gardenhose” access to Twitter) and then process the data for network analysis and visualization in Gephi

Initiating & Managing Your Project

  • My Grant Expenses: a reporting tool that has been developed specifically for Principal Investigators to provide a consolidated, easy-to-access view of budget and expenditure data for grants in his or her portfolio

Technical & Computing Support

  • Statistical Practice Consulting Unit: provides statistical expertise and support, including free walk-in problem solving sessions, statistical application consulting, and long-term collaborative projects
  • Hariri Institute Software & Application Innovation Lab (SAIL): a professional software design and development lab that serves as a collaborative resource for computational and data-driven research
  • IS&T Research Computing Support: selecting systems and software; learning how to use computational and/or graphics algorithms, tools and packages; developing custom tools; connections to the supercomputing facility
  • BU Libraries Digital Scholarship Services: included in their services is a series of workshops on “digital fundamentals”

Colleagues & Collaborations

  • Rafik B. Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science & Engineering: supports computational and data-driven research and training initiatives across the disciplines. Junior Faculty and Graduate Fellowships are available
  • Research on Tap: sponsored by the Provost’s Office, these events offer topical foci several times a year. Presenters provide very brief introductions to their work, and all participants have opportunities for conversation and networking – with wine and snacks
  • Tertulia: aka Junior Faculty Colloquium, sponsored by the Dean’s Office and the BU Center for the Humanities, provides a forum for junior faculty sharing research. Coordinators are Charles Chang, Merav Shohet and Christopher Schmitt
  • CAS News: regularly reports on research news.
  • Centers & Institutes: receptions, working groups, talks galore.
