Initial Appointments of Full- and Part-time Faculty
Tenure-track, Clinical, and of the Practice Faculty
- Recommendation for Academic Appointment Form (helpful guidance for completing this form is available on the Provost’s website)
- Chair’s Memo of Recommendation (faculty vote required)
- Three External Letters of Recommendation
- Current Vita (Please upload cv no more than 3 months old – only administrators have access to upload CVs)
- Letter of application from candidate
- Signed Intellectual Property Agreement (Must accompany initial appointment paperwork for full-time hires)
- Affirmative Action Report (Online for tenured/tenure-track faculty)
Note: New appointments at the ranks of full Professor and Associate Professor require a complete tenure review; please contact Alex Bellan (lundsted@bu.edu) in the Office of Faculty Actions about the requirements for such appointments. New appointments at the ranks of Associate Professor of the Practice and full Professor of the Practice also require a review similar to the tenure review; again, contact Faculty Actions regarding the requirements for appointments at these ranks.
Full-time Lecturers, Adjunct Professorial Faculty, Visiting Professorial Faculty

* Use a Change of Title/Change of Status form if you are changing title and/or salary ONLY. Requests to change academic researchers to faculty ranks are considered to new appointments, not changes of status or promotions.
