CAS Intra-University Transfer Form

Hello, and thank you for your interest in joining the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS)! This form is for current Boston University students who are certain they would like to transfer to a CAS major. Please note, if you are a Freshman, your application will not be reviewed until after your first semester at BU.

Below we will gather all pertinent information from you, and will give you an outline of what your degree expectations and requirements will be. (Please contact CAS Advising at casadv@bu.edu if you need assistance or further guidance on options in CAS).

Do familiarize yourself with any majors or minors you are interested in here.

CAS students are also expected to check their Degree Advice Reports on the Studentlink, to track their degree progress. You can view your Degree Advice Report on the Studentlink under the Academics tab, and then under Academic Advising.

CAS students must complete a general education plan, or the BU Hub requirements.

If you are a transfer student or you matriculated to BU prior to Fall 2018, you will follow the Divisional Studies/Core Curriculum General Education Plan. If you matriculated in Fall 2018 as a freshman, you will continue to follow Hub requirements.

CAS Students must complete the Second Language requirement, regardless of when they matriculated. The Second Language requirement is specific to the College of Arts & Sciences and can be satisfied with any of the following:
-SAT II score of 560 or higher
-AP score of 4 or higher
-IB higher level score of 5 or higher
-Fluency in a language other than English
-Taking language classes, and completing through the fourth semester level of a second language

Finally, all CAS students need a total of 128 credits in order to graduate and need a minimum GPA of a 2.0 in order to transfer in to CAS, and in order to graduate from CAS. If you do not yet have a GPA at BU, we will wait to process this form once your final grades have posted.
