About Us

The mission of the Center for Career Development is to empower students and alumni to make intentional decisions about their professional futures, to build purposeful lives, and to pursue goals while adapting to a changing world.

With nearly 20 staff members, we have decades of experience in career development. An eclectic group, we hail from all over the country, with backgrounds in everything from education, journalism, and social work to religious literature and criminal justice. Each of us has been a job-seeker at one time: eager, hopeful, nervous, curious, unsure, and looking for answers, pointers, and direction.

Understanding is what the CCD is all about. We show up every day not to fix your problems or remove obstacles, but to assist you in solving them, to put you in the driver’s seat and help you keep the engine running smoothly for years to come.

Among our services available for on-campus, degree program students: workshops on career-related topics, resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, individual career counseling sessions, internship or job search strategies. And that’s just for starters. Our online resources and seasoned staff can help you navigate all aspects of career development—from exploring majors and careers to networking, internships, graduate study, and so much more—plus show you how they all tie together. We also offer a wide range of career-related events just for BU students and alumni, and we’ve partnered with employers from all sectors looking to recruit from the BU community.

In addition to our in-person programs and services located at the Yawkey Center for Student Services (also, conveniently, home to the Educational Resource Center), our website has lots of useful information literally at your fingertips, including plenty of interactivity, videos, and infographics. Go ahead, poke around. Then let us help you get down to business.

The Center for Career Development at Boston University is committed to equal access for students with disabilities. If you have a specific disability and require accommodations for any events that we host, please reach out to us at or 617-353-3590. If your request requires further expertise, we will work to connect you to Disability & Access Services.
