Reconciling with Histories of Injustice

This Public Health Conversation hosted by BU’s School of Public Health reflected on the US Public Health Service Syphilis Study at Tuskegee – in particular, the lessons the public health community has learned from this racist and unethical study and actions that can be taken to build trust among historically marginalized communities of color. Speakers included Lillie Jewel Tyson Head, president of Voices for Our Fathers Legacy Foundation and daughter of one of the Tuskegee study’s subjects; and Christopher Koller, president of the Milbank Memorial Fund, which has publicly acknowledged and apologized for the Fund’s role in the study.
