Crowdfunding Cycles

Projects submitted after the deadline for each cycle while be considered for the following cycle.

After the application is submitted, a member from the annual giving team will contact you with information about the approval or denial of your project.

A crowdfunding liaison from the annual giving team will assist each group once the project has been approved. The person will ensure that the fund name and ID are correct and will collaborate with Annual Giving and the project leaders.

1.) All monies raised must be used towards the stated intention. Awarded funds may not be applied towards projects that will generate profit for individuals. Monies raised cannot be redirected to outside charitable organizations.

2.) If an organization or group hits its goal before the assigned deadline, it can opt to continue to raise funds toward a stretch goal. All funds collected past the initial goal, even if the stretch goal is not hit, will be distributed to the group. These funds MUST be applied directly towards the stated project.

3.) Groups are responsible for promoting their own crowdfunding campaign, preparing personal thank-you messages to donors, and posting updates on the status of their project.

4.) Multi-stage projects may be broken into multiple fundraisers if stages can be defined by a completed product, event, activity, or service.

5.) BU DAR reserves the right to decline any projects based on content or discontinue an active fundraiser at any time due to any changes in the group’s eligibility status.

6.) To ensure compliance with University policies all projects must be approved by your campus activities program manager, dean, or appropriate governing body.
