Our Shared Values: The Legacies of King, Thurman, and Wiesel

Martin Luther King, Jr., Howard Thurman, and Elie Wiesel profoundly shaped Boston University and the wider world. In this inaugural lecture and panel discussion, three distinguished BU scholars will explore the connections and distinctions among these luminaries, whose legacies continue to resonate powerfully today. Their crucial justice and peacemaking work offers enduring lessons deeply aligned with our shared values. Speakers: Professor emilie townes is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Religion & Black Studies Professor Shively T.J. Smith serves as Associate Professor of New Testament and Director of the PhD Program in the School of Theology Professor Nancy Harrowitz is the director of the Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies and the head of the major and minor program in Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Studies.
