Film is 80 minutes long, followed by an exclusive Q&A with the Comparsa team! View the trailer here. https://vimeo.com/1119660205 ---------- Comparsa is a story by and for young people working towards community resilience, freedom of expression, and women's rights in Latin America. The film offers an intimate portrait of two young women who galvanize a grassroots movement in their neighborhood on the outskirts of Guatemala City, using art and performance to heal and transform their community in the wake of gender-based violence. Comparsa offers viewers a deeply human narrative while also serving as a compelling case study in innovative approaches to social change. At a time when many nonfiction films rely on familiar formulas, Comparsa distinguishes itself through its cinematic artistry and its capacity to foster critical reflection, engaged learning, and action. The film has garnered 17 awards at over 25 film festivals across four continents, including Sheffield DocFest, CineFest Latino Boston, and the United Nations Association Film Festival at Stanford University.
