Queer Representation in the Media
Queer Representation in the Media: Join an outstanding panel that will speak about the changing representation, which has been both positive and negative. After a surge in LGBTQ representation in the media, GLAAD has reported a decline in representation over the past several years. In November, they reported an increase in LGBTQ characters on television as compared to the previous year, but representation is mixed, and there is a pattern of cancelled LGBTQ-inclusive series. They anticipate that there will be LGBTQ characters who will not return next year, and several shows with LGBTQ ensembles will be ending this year on both television and streaming services.
