Archaeology Brown Bag Talk: Andreana Cunningham
During the Fall 2026, Boston University's Archaeology Program will be hosting a series of lectures. Our next lecture is titled “Adapting facial approximation techniques toward commemorating ancestors at Rupert’s Valley, St Helena.” We are thrilled to have our very own Dr. Andreana Cunningham (Boston University) joining us. The talk is Wednesday, October 29 in the Gabel Museum of Archaeology, STO 253, 675 Commonwealth Avenue, 12:20-1:10. Lunch provided. Andree Cunningham is presenting on her collaborative project with St Helenian artists to artistically interpret three people buried at the Liberated African burial ground in Rupert’s Valley. The project aimed to embrace the speculative nature of reconstruction to create multiple imagined possibilities of these ancestors. In the process, the artists made their artistic choices explicit, and reflected on the ways that the bioarchaeological data they worked with elicited novel insights about the legacies of the site.
