[BDCSciComm Lab] F31, NSF GRFP fellowship workshop series

The Biological Design Center Communication Lab will be running a Fellowship Workshop Series this fall that meets weekly to help students in the BU community with their applications for various fellowships, including the NSF GRFP, DoD NDSEG, and F31 Fellowships.

These workshops are open to undergraduates, master students, and Ph.D. students in any department or college at Boston University. All workshops will be held Tuesdays from 11:00am-12:30pm.

In the workshops, the BDC Comm Lab will provide helpful writing strategies, extensive peer review, and one-on-one mentorship with Comm Lab fellows. We will discuss the review process and demystify what makes a successful application. You will also have an opportunity to meet with current BU graduate students who were awarded some of these fellowships and faculty and staff who have recently reviewed for these federal agencies at a panel discussion.

Schedule of the Workshop Series:

September 16, 2024 The first session will kick off with an informational presentation on opportunities including the NSF GRFP, DoD NDSEG, and F31 Fellowships.

September 23, 2024 What makes a successful research proposal? The second session will begin with our first peer review session. Bring a preliminary draft and you will start receiving feedback from peers.

September 30, 2024 Our next discussion will focus on arguing significance and feasibility. How will your research succeed and solve the problem.

October 07, 2024 The fourth workshop will feature a panel discussion where you will meet with current BU fellowship awardees.

October 14, 2024 In this session, we will refine your hypothesis, proposal objectives, and rationale.

October 21, 2024 The final peer review session will focus on the entirety of your proposal.

Sign up using the form below.
