Stability, Learning and Control of Dynamic Networks
In this talk we consider various aspects of dynamics, control and learning on graphs. We discuss diffusively coupled network dynamical systems and the role of coupling in stabilizing and destabilizing such systems. We also discuss dynamic networks of this type and in particular Lyapunov-based methods for analyzing the stability of networks undergoing switching. In addition we analyze the problem of learning the dynamics of switched systems from data, including linear and polynomial systems and systems on graphs, In addition we consider the control and dynamics of systems on hypergraphs which have applications to biological networks.
Anthony M. Bloch is the Alexander Ziwet Collegiate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Michigan where he has served as graduate and department chair. He received a B.Sc.(Hons) in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in 1978, an M. S.in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1979, an M. Phil in Control Theory and Operations Research from Cambridge University in1981 and a Ph. D in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University in 1985. His main research interests are in dynamics, differential equations and control. He has received various awards including a Presidential Young Investigator Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Simons Fellowship and is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. He was a Senior Fellow of the Michigan Society of Fellows and a member of the Institute for Advanced Study. He was Editor-in-Chief of the SIAM Journal of Control and Optimization and is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nonlinear Science as well as Series Editor for Springer Publishing.
