Boston University Chamber Orchestra
Boston University School of Music presents the Boston University Chamber Orchestra. Featuring the newly appointed Dr. Joshua Roach and several BU conducting students, this vibrant program celebrates bold voices and vivid imagery across eras and continents.
Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 2 opens with dramatic flair and classical elegance, showcasing the brilliance and craft of a long-overlooked Romantic pioneer. Vaughan Williams’s Tuba Concerto follows with warmth, wit, and surprising lyricism, giving the soloist moments of both playful charm and noble depth. Respighi’s Trittico Botticelliano paints three radiant scenes inspired by Renaissance master Sandro Botticelli, blending shimmering orchestration with a sense of timeless beauty. The program concludes with Manuel de Falla’s El Amor Brujo, a hauntingly theatrical tale of love, jealousy, and flamenco-tinged mysticism, featuring a mezzo-soprano in the role of a woman tormented by a ghostly past.
This event is free and open to the public.
