Boston University Chamber Orchestra
Boston University School of Music presents the Boston University Chamber Orchestra. BUCO’s first program of the year captures the elegance, energy, and sweeping spirit of the Romantic imagination.
Mendelssohn’s Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream sparkles with youthful brilliance, conjuring Shakespeare’s enchanted forest through shimmering strings and playful winds. Mozart’s Symphony No. 35, the “Haffner,” follows with regal flair and vivacious momentum, originally composed to honor a prominent Salzburg family. Schumann’s “Rhenish” Symphony closes the program with grandeur and warmth, inspired by the composer’s impressions of the Rhine River and the majestic cathedrals and landscapes of western Germany—a vivid portrait of place, memory, and emotion.
This program is free and open to the public.
