[HMS] Dissecting Science Communication Careers

<P>This session—led by award-winning scientist, science communicator, and five-time TEDx/TED speaker Dr. Anne A. Madden—will cover three topics: 1.) An overview of the diverse careers in science communication. 2.) How to determine if a career in science communication is right for you. 3.) How to find science communication positions in the current market. Along the way, Dr. Madden will share industry-tested tactics, strategies, and resources for rapidly establishing yourself as a competitive science communication candidate regardless of your background. There will be plenty of time for questions. </P> <P><B>Speaker Bio:</B> Dr. Madden graduated from Tufts University with a Ph.D. in Biology, after which she was awarded an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at North Carolina State University, where she worked in a leading applied ecology and science communication lab. Over the last decade, Dr. Madden has developed the science communication strategy for early-stage biotechnology companies and a global science education nonprofit, and served as the former Head of Science Communication for the world’s most financially successful agriculture technology startup. She routinely consults on science communication and outreach projects for clients ranging from early-stage entrepreneurs and top-ranked universities to Fortune 500 companies.</P>
