Emerging Higher Ed Scholars Symposium: "Banned! Scholars from States Where DEI is Under Assault. "

Colleagues within the committee of the Emerging Higher Education Scholars Program are interested in the several states within our country that currently have restricted and/or banned DEI, making the work of fellow equity scholars extremely difficult and endangering to their future academic careers. Our committee is working to uplift these early career faculty, postdocs, and late-stage doctoral students that are studying higher education. The committee will be hosting five emerging scholars for a research (empirical/conceptual) presentation and panel that focuses discussion on the symposium “Banned! Scholars from States Where DEI is Under Assault.” Please join us at the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground (Room 104) on Friday, February 21st, 2025 at 11am – 2pm EST. Presentations will be a part of a three-hour symposium and luncheon showcasing the work of emerging scholars, who will present their research as a conference-style talk for 15-20 minutes, followed by a panel discussion facilitated by Boston University senior scholar, Dr. Raul Fernandez. If you have not already, please RSVP here. Feel free to extend the invite to those in your network that may be interested. For more information, visit bu.edu/wheelock/emerging. This initiative is proudly co-sponsored by Wheelock College of Education and Human Development and the Boston University Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground. Please reach out to Tiana Batista (tianarb@bu.edu) with any questions, comments, and/or concerns.
