Lawyers and Fiction | A symposium celebrating Jack Beermann and Kate Cochrane's recent book publications
Lunch will be available starting at 12:00pm, and the program will begin promptly at 1pm. Law faculty often write about law – in law review articles, legal briefs, books for other law professors and lawyers. But did you know that law faculty also write novels? Come join us for a lunch time discussion with Professor Jack Beermann and Law Librarian Kate Cochrane, whose novels were recently published. Kate Cochrane’s Wake Up Nat & Darcy is an adult romance about recently retired women’s hockey players -- one from Team USA and one from Team Canada—who navigate rivalry, professional tensions, and social media drama while falling in love. And Jack Beermann’s Chief Justice Abraham Lincoln and the End of Reconstruction imagines an alternative history in which President Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated and instead became Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. Come listen to these authors talk about what inspired them to write fiction, and these particular stories, over a light lunch in Barristers on February 12, 2025. This panel will be moderated by Associate Dean for Intellectual Life Jessica Silbey.
