Alumni Medical Library: Civil War Medicine & Recognition of Black Healthcare Professionals

Join Alumni Medical Library and Dr. Robert Beazley and Dr. Angelique Harris from Boston University’s Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine for a panel discussion on medical practices, the socio-political climate and influence of Black healthcare professionals, and how the rich history of Boston University fits into the legacy and historical narrative of medical practices and caretaking during the Civil War era. About the speakers:Dr. Robert M. Beazley, MD, Emeritus Professor, Surgery at Boston University’s Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, was born, raised and educated in Maryland. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland having completed his general surgery residency at Baltimore's University of Maryland Hospital in 1970. Beazley joined Boston University in 1988 where he was the Chief of Surgical until he retired in 2004. In his Senior undergraduate year, he managed to enroll into an extremely popular Civil War History course and came to the realization that he should have been a history major, and history of surgery has become a lasting hobby for him.Dr. Angelique C.
