The Maccabees Project: Reconsidering the Conquests of John Hyracus I
Part of the Maccabees Project’s hybrid in-person/Zoom discussion series, From Rebels to Rulers: The Hasmoneans and their Kingdom, the first meeting for this academic year will explore the conquests of John Hyrcanus I. It will feature talks from leading scholars Andrea M. Berlin (Boston University), Débora Sandhaus (Ben Gurion University of the Negev), and Avner Ecker (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem). This event offers a fascinating look at the Hasmoneans’ rise to power and the historical complexities of their rule.
