Sound On: Axel & Lolo, WBUR’s Mass. Favorite of NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest
Axel & Lolo, WBUR’s Massachusetts favorite of NPR’s Tiny Desk contest, is bonded by a shared sensibility of playfulness, joy and curiosity. The Boston-based group led by Lauren Vice and Axel Rodriguez, and rounded out by Tyler Logan Caro on bass and Samuel Oldham on drums, was selected from more than 229 entries for their performance of “You’d Like Me More.” WBUR senior arts and culture reporter Amelia Mason writes that Axel & Lolo made an impression with their “chugging energy and big dynamics.” The duo, who became friends while students at Berklee, quickly discovered their ability to blend their voices and describe the first time they sat down to write a song together as “so fun, we're having so much fun!” Enjoy an evening celebrating their creative friendship live at CitySpace. Opening for Axel & Lolo will be indie/folk singer-songwriter Coco Smith and indie, R&B and Indian fusion singer-songwriter Varsha.
