Conversations with the Dean: New Year, New Potential
For many, a new school year signals new beginnings. At BU Wheelock, it’s no different. And this year, as we welcome new students and welcome back current students and faculty, we’re also excited to welcome another new member of our community—Dean Penny Bishop.
For the very first webinar in this year’s Conversations with the Dean series, get to know Dean Bishop and learn more about her background as an educator and her vision for BU Wheelock. She’ll be interviewed by Anthony Abraham Jack, an associate professor in our higher education leadership program. Dr. Jack is also the faculty director for BU’s Newbury Center, which supports first-generation students, and the author of the new book Class Dismissed: When Colleges Ignore Inequality and Students Pay the Price.
Together, Dean Bishop and Dr. Jack will reflect on some of the issues and concerns many educators face at the start the new year. They’ll talk about the best ways to help all students—especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds—to thrive.
