F-1 Student Work Visa Strategies: What’s Required for OPT, CPT & STEM Extensions
Join GoinGlobal’s immigration experts to explore 3 US work options commonly used by F-1 students. F-1 students studying at American universities have limited options for working during their degree programs. An important option allowing off-campus employment is Curricular Practical Training (“CPT”). Similarly, students may be eligible to apply for “pre-completion” Optional Practical Training (OPT), which also allows for off-campus employment. This webinar will address issues related to CPT and pre-completion OPT as strategies to working during their degree program. The session will also discuss “post-completion” OPT as the best strategy for getting work in the US after graduation. Post completion OPT, coupled with the STEM extension, can provide opportunities to work in the US for up to 3 years upon graduation. Each of these work options (CPT, OPT and STEM) will be explored in this webinar. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions at the conclusion of the presentation. About Our Experts: Mark Rhoads and Crystal Malik are well recognized immigration attorneys with the Immigration Practice Group of the McCandlish Holton law firm. They work with companies and universities throughout the United States successfully processing thousands of work visas and green card applications each year. Mark and Crystal frequently collaborate with universities to counsel staff and students on the latest guidelines for successfully navigating the US immigration process. Mark has been repeatedly recognized as one of the "Best Lawyers in America for Immigration Law", while Crystal has been highlighted as one of the "Best Lawyers in America-One to Watch" in the same field.
