CISS Residential Fellowships Panel
Residential fellowships provide faculty and graduate students an opportunity to carry out their research for a specific time period, such as one year or one semester, at an institution other than BU. While these fellowships vary widely, they typically provide scholars with the environment and resources conducive to generating new knowledge and establishing productive research collaborations. How do scholars identify a residential fellowship that best meets their needs? What makes for a successful application to such a fellowship? How can scholars ensure that they use their fellowship time wisely and effectively? A panel of social sciences and humanities faculty will share their experiences as fellows, offer tips for successful applications, and answer questions from faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students who seek such a fellowship. This panel discussion will be held Wednesday March 6 from 2-3:30 pm in the CISS conference room, on the 5th floor of 704 Commonwealth Ave. Panelists will include:Arianne Chernock (CAS/History and Associate Dean of the Faculty for Social Sciences). Fulbright Scholar, King’s College, LondonMaurice (Mo) Lee (CAS/English). Radcliffe Institute for Advanced StudyJohn (Mac) Marston (CAS/Archaeology and Anthropology). Fulbright Scholar, University of Queensland, Brisbane, AustraliaSusanne Sreedhar (CAS/Philosophy and Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies). Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study
