Sparking Innovation with NSF’s Dr. Erwin Gianchandani
In 2022, the National Science Foundation (NSF) announced the establishment of the Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships, or TIP, the agency’s first new directorate in more than 30 years. A few months later, Congress passed the CHIPS and Science Act, charging the directorate with the mission of advancing US competitiveness through investments to accelerate the development of key technologies and address pressing societal and economic challenges, such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced communications, and quantum computing.
The TIP Directorate is led by Dr. Erwin Gianchandani, assistant director for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships. In this fireside chat, Dr. Gianchandani will share insights on the new directorate, its programs advancing use-inspired and translational research and regional innovation, and opportunities for funding and collaboration relevant to STEM researchers across fields.
The chat will be moderated by BU Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Doug Densmore and an opportunity for audience Q&A will follow.
