Research on Tap: The Global Housing Crisis
In August 2023, the United Nations published a new report warning of an unsustainable affordable housing crisis, reaffirming their commitment to housing as a human right. This housing crisis is global, and it’s directly affecting Boston, a city consistently ranked as having one of the most expensive housing markets in the US.
Research conducted across Boston University shows that housing affordability has a profound impact on various aspects of life, including health, education, and social and economic mobility, and intersects with every dimension of identity including race, gender, and age. This event will convene experts across disciplines to explore the effects of housing unaffordability, including displacement and homelessness.
