Politics as Worship: Righteous Activism and the Egyptian Muslim Brothers
Join us for a book talk by Sumita Pahwa, Associate Professor of Politics at Scripps College. Pahwa will present her new book, Politics as Worship: Righteous Activism and the Egyptian Muslim Brothers. How do Islamists balance preaching and power-seeking? Presenting research from her new book, Politics as Worship, Pahwa will discuss how the Egyptian Muslim Brothers embraced politics over time as essential for attaining individual salvation and building a political order that enabled Islamic justice, and consider implications for understanding religious parties broadly.
This is a hybrid event.
