Policy Forum Part 2: America's Economic Future–The Outlook for Young Adults
Join the Coalition for Career Development (CCD) Center and the Boston University Wheelock Center for Future Readiness for the second of the three-part Policy Forum Series. This event will be held virtually. Registration is required.
Young adults deserve a bright economic future. But how many are able to access the educational and occupational pathways that lead to economic self-sufficiency and social mobility?
Policymakers and practitioners will report on critical data, including the percentage of young adults who are working full-time and earning a living wage and those who are disconnected from education and the workforce—or “Opportunity Youth” or Not in Education, Employed, or Training (NEET) youth.
Panelists will also discuss the role of community colleges in light of the new book “America’s Hidden Economic Engines: How Community Colleges Can Drive Shared Prosperity.”
Attendees will learn about:

Evidence-based strategies to reduce the likelihood that youth will become disconnected as adults;</>
The need for alternative pathways to social mobility beyond having a traditional four-year college degree; and</>
Efforts to expand access to career readiness services.</> </>
