LEARN MORE SERIES: Portraits of Pride: A Celebration of Queer and Trans Lives in Boston

In October 2022, the Portraits of Pride project was launched to commemorate LGBTQ History Month, with an exhibition of photo portraits highlighting 19 remarkable Boston leaders. The portraits – installed as larger-than-life canvas prints that billowed over Boston Common – were photographed by John Huet and conceived by Creative Director Jean Dolin, who called the project “a love letter” to Boston’s LGBTQIA+ community. Now, four months after the portraits were vandalized, a special edition of the installation is headed to BU. Join us for a special event to celebrate the installation of Portraits of Pride in the GSU 2nd-floor exhibition space. The event will include a reception and a panel with some of the photo subjects, moderated by WBUR Arts Engagement Producer Arielle Gray. Panelists: Shaplaie Brooks, Executive Director, Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth Jean Dolin, Curator, Portraits of Pride Dominic “Diggity Dom” Glaude, musician, producer Ashton Mota, Human Rights Campaign Youth Foundation Ambassador Moderator: Arielle Gray, Reporter and Arts Engagement Producer for The ARTery, WBUR Boston Sponsored by BU Diversity & Inclusion, LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff, and the BU Arts Initiative
