Urban Parks and the Public Realm: Equity and Access in Post-COVID Cities
The past year introduced new ways of experiencing parks and greenspace, as the COVID-19 pandemic’s widespread lockdowns subsequently inspired millions of Americans to seek out open space near their homes. Join the Boston University Initiative on Cities and The Trust for Public Land for a discussion on access to and quality of parks and greenspace, and opportunities presented by the pandemic to reimagine public space. The event will feature findings from the national Menino Survey of Mayors and a conversation with local leaders on priorities for ensuring high-quality open space in every neighborhood that is welcoming, accessible, and safe to all residents. Featuring: Katharine Lusk, Co-Director, Boston University Initiative on Cities Mayor Byron Brown, Buffalo, NY Mayor Libby Schaaf, Oakland, CA
