"Niobe in Noir: The Poetry of Phillis Wheatley & H. Cordelia Ray"
Nicole Spigner is Assistant Professor in African American Studies at Northwestern University. She will speak on her current research, an examination of works by black women authors who rewrote Ovidian forms and plot lines and redefined black feminine identity as a dynamic process of transformation. This presentation is the third even in our 2020-21 lecture series, Black Classicism Moving Forward. Presented by the Boston University Department of Classical Studies and the Art and Sciences Core Curriculum. Supported by the NEH Distinguished Teaching Professorship.
