Research on Tap: Eliminating Health Disparities: Society & Biomedicine
According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, health disparities adversely affect groups of people who have systematically experienced social or economic obstacles to health based on their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic-status, or other characteristics historically linked to discrimination or exclusion. Understanding and eliminating health disparities demands research on the causes of these health inequities, as well as effective interventions for prevention and treatment. In four-minute talks, faculty representing a breadth of research from across Boston University will share ways in which they’re using cutting-edge research tools to study societal determinants of health, community engagement, and biomolecular sciences to adopt a more holistic approach to disease prevention and treatment.
