Emerging Media Studies Alumni Talk
We are pleased to announce our next EMS Alumni Talk which will be taking place on Zoom this Feb 3 at 6:30pm. We will be speaking to recent graduates Yiming “Skylar” Lei (COM ’20) and Rebecca Faroro Giovannetti (COM ’20) who both completed the MA program last year. You can read more about Skylar and Rebecca below. As always, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and to hear about what our previous students did during their time on the program and what they have been doing since graduating! Register in advance: https://bostonu.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJcqcu-rrDgpHtHwc82HIiiGHrObfizY1IzgAfter graduating EMS, Yiming "Skylar" Lei went to Michigan State University to start her Ph.D. program in the Media and Information Department. The last fall semester she worked with Dr. David Ewoldsen and Dr. Robby Ratan on research projects and as a teaching assistant. The project she's collaborating on with Dr. Ratan, on how synchronous and asynchronous class interactions lead to different student social presence and learning perceptions, has been accepted to ICA 2021. She is also active in the graduate student union at MSU.Rebecca Faroro Giovannetti graduated from the EMS program last summer and started working as a Product Data Analyst at DraftKings shortly after. DraftKings is a Boston-based tech company for online gaming products, namely Daily Fantasy, Casino, and Sportsbook. Her current position offers great opportunities to work at the intersection of product design, feature testing and user research. Her current project is a business case on how live streaming matches on the Sportsbook app might increase user engagement with the product and live betting.
