Climate Policy under President Biden and the New Congress: A Conversation with Congressman Sean Casten

Politics and science have gone head-to-head under the Trump Administration with the pandemic bringing this tension to a boiling point. As President-elect Biden takes office, what will Congressional leaders and the Biden Administration propose for climate action, and what will this Congress be able to enact? Special guest speaker U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) brings the perspective of scientist, clean energy entrepreneur, and Member of Congress to our discussion of the best and most likely path forward for Congressional Energy Policy. As a member of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, Congressman Casten was instrumental in developing an ambitious new report released this past June, “Solving the Climate Crisis: The Congressional Action Plan for a Clean Energy Economy and a Healthy, Resilient, and Just America.” Remarks from the Congressman will be followed by audience Q&A. Peter Fox-Penner, Director of the Boston University Institute for Sustainable Energy (ISE), will moderate with discussant Jacquie Ashmore, ISE Executive Director. Hosted by the Boston University Institute for Sustainable Energy and co-sponsored by the Northeast Clean Energy Council, Advanced Energy Economy, National Association of State Energy Officials, and the BU Energy and Sustainability Club.
