UA 515 Guest Lecture: Planning the Smart and Equitable City of Medellín: Data, Technology, and City Planning

Join Boston University City Planning and Urban Affairs class UA 515 History, Theory, and Planning Practice for a guest lecture on data, technology, and city planning featuring BUCPUA alumni Alejandro Delgado, advisor for the mayor of Medellín, Colombia.We will make a historical and technological recount of the industrial revolutions and their effects over the society, trade, businesses, and urban planning. We will also talk about the Fourth Industrial Revolution and how the speed of change has increased exponentially and its possible consequences. Finally, we will look at some smart city projects that are currently in progress in Medellín, Colombia. Alejandro Delgado is an experienced executive with more than 19 years of practice in technology deployment, science and technology, policy development, and supply chain management, as well as working in the public sector managing programs around competitiveness and productivity through innovation. Alejandro is interested in urban economic growth via the convergence of the fourth industrial revolution technologies, sociology, psychology, and biology. Alejandro holds an MBA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, a Specialist in Political Studies (geopolitics) from Eafit University, a Master's in Economic, Political, and International Issues Analysis from Universidad Externado (Diplomatic Academy), and a Master's in Urban Affairs from Boston University.All BUCPUA students, faculty, and alumni are welcome!Zoom link will be emailed after registrants RSVP.
