Lift Every Voice and Sing: The Muddy Waters Effect

The Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground invites you to “Lift Every Voice and Sing: The Muddy Waters Effect,” the first conversation in a larger series exploring the influence of American music on popular culture and social movements. In “The Muddy Waters Effect,” Victor Coelho, Professor of Music and editor of The Cambridge Companion to the Rolling Stones, will explore the profound impact Black American blues artists had on predominantly white bands associated with the British Invasion of the 1960s and 70s. Join Associate Director Pedro Falci live on Zoom to ask your questions and investigate the connection between artists like Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Chuck Berry and the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Cream and more.
