Supportive Environments: From Internal Dialogue to the Creative Space
Professor Tawnya Smith and Professor Karin Hendricks of the CFA Music Education department will give a presentation on coping with performance anxiety.Overly self-conscious thoughts can lead to anxiety and interfere with our artistic development and success. In this session we discuss research-based strategies for managing fears and turning negative thought patterns into confidence-boosting affirmations and habits. We will offer ideas for fostering a positive and nurturing mindset in personal practice and creative work, as well as in interactions with others. We will sprinkle interactive, embodied relaxation activities throughout the session. This presentation will be via Zoom. To register, please email mjcannon@bu.edu. If you cannot attend the live session but would like to request a copy afterward, please email mjcannon@bu.edu.
