Stage Troupe Presents: Pygmalion

Best known in popular culture as My Fair Lady but with roots in ancient Greek mythology, Pygmalion is a classic tale of nobility meeting poverty. Professor Henry Higgins is a phonetics specialist, and along with colleague Colonel Pickering he bets he can transform a lowly local flower salesgirl, Eliza Doolittle, into a socialite and “proper” lady. Eliza’s cockney accent is a generally accepted social cue to her inferiority, but she proves determined and intelligent. The two vastly different worlds of the lead characters collide in all sorts of funny ways as they both attempt to navigate their relationship and wrestle with their old ways.
