First Fridays at the BU Arts Initiative
Join the BU Arts Initiative Student Advisory Council on Friday, February 7 from 4:30-6pm for our monthly First Friday event. Weaving & Waffles: We're partnering with Weaving for Wellness, a new initiative from the CFA School of Visual Arts. Learn how to weave with their staff while enjoying some delicious food from Zinneken's and other light refreshments. All supplies & food provided on a first come first serve basis. Gallery Reception: Camilla Satte (CAS '20) "Trompe-l’œil is a quite popular art technique that most artists use to create optical illusions of two-dimensional object appear as three-dimensional but my artworks work in a reverse direction. The aim of my works is to collapse the depth and make three-dimensional objects, humans and their surroundings, into flat two-dimensional paintings. The photographs are depicting the real life people to appear as painted portraits on canvas." Some of his influences are The National, Pearl Jam, Wilco, Phoebe Bridgers, among others in which he attempts to create songs driven by honest and introspective lyrics. Greg currently plays with Soup the Band, a local band currently playing around Boston. Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/user-216562329-148238027
