Coffee & Conversation: Gender, Sexuality, and Dwyane Wade
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have made headlines for their support of daughter Zaya’s gender identity and expression. Critics have said Zaya is too young to know if she is transgender and that her parents should step in rather than encourage her. Transphobia online is nothing new, and it also doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Why is that? Time Magazine declared “Gender is Over” in 2017, but it certainly doesn’t feel that way. Let’s discuss what gender really is and who ultimately gets to decide theirs.
