CANCELED: Dine Right Every Time: Food, Race, & Culture in America
Widely published food writer D.R.E. James will discuss his unusual career path from dishwasher, to line cook, to writing his first few food articles on the backs of greasy menus, to becoming a regular commentator on American foodways. He has interviewed innovative chefs such as David Schuttenberg, Cynthia Wong, and Mike Lata, all of whom he also worked alongside. James’ work is notable for going beyond the traditional restaurant review to tackle issues of race, history and cultural politics. James is currently working on the DRE (Dine Right Every Time) Guide to restaurants.
