Energy Democracy Event with Nathan Phillips
Science for the People and Take Back the Grid, Boston DSA's energy democracy campaign, will host an "Energy Democracy 101" event in the Lewis Room at Cambridge Public Library, Central Square Branch on 10/29 from 7:00-9:00 pm.
The event will include a panel with Jen Stevenson from Climable, representatives from Take Back the Grid, and scientist-activist Dr. Nathan Phillips from Boston University. They will discuss the climate crisis and the need for public utilities, especially if we are to meet the decarbonization goals laid out in the IPCC report. Public power is cheaper, safer, more accountable and allows faster transition to renewables than when energy systems are in the hands of private utility corporations. We want energy to be democratized, decarbonized, decommodified & decolonized.
The event is free, and refreshments will be provided.
