Provost Workshop: "Communicating Science" with Mariette DiChristina

With 35 years of experience as a journalist, the new Dean of BU’s College of Communication, DiChristina is among the nation’s most accomplished science journalists, editors and managers.

   

She has been both editor-in-chief and senior vice president of Scientific American (2009-19) and executive vice president, editorial and publishing, of its parent company Springer Nature (2015-19), overseeing the journal Nature and related titles.

 

Dean DiChristina’s professional involvement spans the intersection of science, journalism and new technology including serving as president of the National Association of Science Writers; acting as chief judge for the Google Science Fair; participating in the Climate Communications Initiative of the US National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine; and serving as Chair of the Top 10 Emerging Technologies Steering Group for the World Economic Forum.

 

This two-hour, interactive workshop is open to all BUMC faculty, staff and students. Learn about the work that is being done at the College of Communication, including The Conversation, and opportunities at Scientific American. Bring your questions! There will be substantial time for Q&A.
