Research Networking Applications: Architecture and Advantages

Research Networking is a rapidly evolving area of informatics that uses online applications to help people find and create new research collaborations by making information about researchers, expertise, and resources rapidly accessible and searchable. Research Networking tools can connect institutional systems, research networks, and public or restricted research data by collecting information from a wide range of sources. They then aggregate and organize this information as expertise profiles for faculty, investigators, scholars, clinicians, community partners, and facilities. In this talk, Dr. Shanahan will discuss the structure and function of Research Networks, as well as their potential value to research stakeholders.
